Pastor

Tim Stewart

Tim has been our pastor since 1990. A native of Bristol, VA, he earned a BA in Biblical Studies from Belhaven College (Jackson, MS) in 1975.  He attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Deerfield, IL) from 1975 - 1978.  In 1986, Tim graduated with an M.Div. from Columbia Theological Seminary (Decatur, GA).  In 2014, Tim earned a doctorate in Worship Studies from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies in Jacksonville, FL.

Tim has served the denomination at the Presbytery, Synod and General Assembly levels.  When asked how it is that he is still at the same church for so many years, Tim says, it's simple, he still feels called to this congregation. If asked why, in his reply, he usually speaks of how Burnt Store Presbyterian Church is consistently being recreated into whatever God sees it becoming next. After all, Presbyterians are always reformed, always being reformed.

Tim is married to Karin. They have two children, daughter Kristen and son Dana. Kristen is married to Isaac and they have two children, David and Jacob. The four live in Columbus, OH. Dana and his wife Abby (and their three cats) live in Orlando. Dana and Abby are registered nurses and each works in a different department at the same hospital.

Tim and Karin have three four-legged children, their black Labrador Retriever Ti-Li, chocolate Labrador Retriever, Indy and Golden Retriever, Stevie.
Tim enjoys time with Karin and the dogs, taking trips to some tropical paradise and just hanging out at home. When Tim is not at the church or at home, he might be seen on Daytona, Sebring, Rockingham, Bristol or some other place where sports cars or dragsters fill the air with the aroma of burning rubber or nitro.
