Church Logo

Church Logo

Our logo was designed to symbolize the background, meaning and mission of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church.

At the center is the Cross, representing the center of our worship and our belief. It occupies the center position to symbolize its centrality in all that we do.

The background of the Logo is a flame, symbolizing the Holy Spirit which appeared to the Apostles in the form of tongues of fire. The flame was also selected to identify Burnt Store Presbyterian Church; it seemed appropriate as a symbol for not only our name but also for our zeal and our mission.

The flame has seven tongues. The number seven is significant in our belief in that it represents the Seven Virtues of Man (Faith, Hope, Charity, Fortitude, Justice, Prudence and Temperance.) There are Seven Works of Mercy (bury the dead, clothe the naked, feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, house the homeless, tend the sick and visit the afflicted) There are Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit (Wisdom, Understanding, Might, Knowledge, Gentleness, Piety and Honor.)

The Creation took seven days, the Sabbath occurs on the seventh day and music, an important part of our worship, has seven notes. The rainbow, symbolic of God’s covenant with man, has seven colors.

The three figures near the center symbolize the Trinity: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. They also represent our membership: With arms raised upward and outward, they symbolize our church’s motto, “we are a Church reaching up and reaching out”….reaching up in praise and reaching out to others in a reconciling manner.
In the color version of the Logo, the flame is burnt orange, the figures of people are in blue, and the cross and flame are outlined in dark blue.
